Bwindi
Ancient rainforest sanctuary for half the world's remaining mountain gorillas.
Bwindi Impenetrable National Park protects roughly 459 mountain gorillas across 331 km² of mist-shrouded montane forest. Gorilla trekking permits are limited and highly sought after, offering an intimate hour with habituated family groups. The park also supports chimpanzees, forest elephants, and over 350 bird species.
